Since 1922, the Ithaca Garden Club has invested several hundred thousand dollars into its projects, including the installation of gardens at Cayuga Medical Center, Hospicare, Sciencenter, Cayuga Heights Fire Station, Paleontological Research Institute, Cancer Resource Center, Stewart Park, Waterfront Trail, Ithaca Children’s Garden and Hangar Theater.
In 2022, the Club celebrates 100 years with a keen focus on the continued mass planting of daffodils. (See menu above for Daff-a-Dazzle.) In October 2020, the Ithaca Garden Club made an extraordinary gift to the City of Ithaca, with the planting of 12,000 narcissi and over 5,000 muscari and crocus. Located along Taughannock Blvd, just north of the Ithaca Children’s Garden, this daffodil planting creates a beautiful naturalizing splash of color for all passersby to enjoy for many springs to come.
The daffodils, combined with the multi-year planting of crabapple trees along Floral Avenue at the Inlet, are part of the Ithaca Garden Club’s “Garden Trail” and part of the Club’s on-going gifts to the City as we celebrate of century of educating and fostering interest in horticulture, flower arranging and landscaping.
Additional ongoing projects include designing holiday decorations for Cayuga Medical Center locations and annual recognition of a downtown Ithaca garden.
