Speaker: Jeanne Grace, licensed Ithaca City Forrester and CU graduate will speak about her work on the City Shade Tree Advisory Committee, from selecting specimens from top nurseries to decisions of when to remove or replace a tree. Learn how she deals with topics from business blunders and pesticide use to helping home owners decide and care for their new trees.
NYSEG's Paul Paradine, also on the Shade Tree committee, will give us an overview of the many hazards and long hours of being a lineman. His other passions, besides cats and green tea, are the birds that often nest in the tops of telephone poles, eg, the Osprey Eagle. He has stories to tell of bird migration and knowledge of the qualities and character of the birds and their offspring in the area. Discover how he builds nests for these great birds whose natural habitat is dwindling.
