
Pruning
- Prune summer bloomers such as Spirea and Buddleia before new flower buds form
- Prune late blooming shrubs while still dormant
- Cut back ornamental grasses when snow is gone and before new growth appears
- Prune Lavender back hard to encourage new growth
- Cut back Russian Sage leaving just 6-8 inches of woody stems
Fertilizing
- Apply organic fertilizer as soon as you can work the ground
- Apply chemical and time release fertilizer just before growth begins
- Fertilize roses in mid-April
Lawn
- In early Spring, apply corn gluten meal to lawn for weed control after snow disappears
— 4-6 weeks before weeds sprout!

- Divide Spring blooming perennials after blooming
